Creating stable moments for foster and adopted children
The Stable Moments program is a weekly mentorship program utilizing equine assisted learning to achieve life skills that better prepare foster and adopted children for healthy transitions into adulthood.
Although we work with horses, this is not a riding program.
Children develop a relationship with their assigned horse to work on life skills.
The Stable Moments Model is designed to serve children who have experienced early developmental trauma. Eligible participants have been in or currently are in foster care, or have been adopted.
Although the model is designed to serve children ages 3-17, check your particular location for their age requirements.
Each participant in a Stable Moments program will receive:
An intake assessment to identify their history, challenges, strengths, interests and areas for development
An individualized program plan that addresses the child's unique needs
A community mentor who will meet with them once per week
Access to the same horse each week
Activity logs completed at the end of each session
Progress summaries, completed at the mid- and end-point of each session year.
Each participant in a Stable Moments program must be able to commit to the full program length. (typically 10 months dependent on location.
